Impulse Album Covers
“Folks often tell me how much they enjoyed the covers I did with John @ Impulse!, especially, “Kulu Se Mama,” and “Coltrane Live At the Village Vangaurd Again!” By the early 60’s , I shot a number of covers for Impulse! I was given great latitude and my work was greatly enhanced by such designers as Fran Attaway and Robert Flynn. Most of the covers were of tenor saxophone players such as : Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler, Coleman Hawkins, Pharoah Sanders, Sonny Rollins and John Coltrane. I adored John.”
